How should the property be prepared for the shoot?

It is to your benefit and ours to have the property ready for the photography shoot. You want the pictures to look great and we have a schedule that is important for us to maintain. We are happy to help out with minor changes to the property that will improve the quality of the pictures. But there are some items that are critical to the success of the shoot that are required to be taken care of before our arrival.

  • Please make sure the property is clean. Make sure no dirty dishes are visible in the kitchen, no unmade beds or dirty laundry in the bedrooms, and bathroom and kitchen counters are free from clutter. Remove any clutter from the floors.
  • If there are pets in the house please make arrangements to have them and their personal items (such as a litter box) in an area that won't interfere with the photography.
  • Check to make sure all lightbulbs are working.
  • If you plan on having the property staged for the photo session please allow time before our scheduled arrival to complete the staging.

All of these things will help to create the quality photographs that both you and our company desire.

What happens if the property is not ready for the shoot when we arrive?

If the realtor is at the property for the shoot and the house is not clean and ready, it is up to the realtor to make the decision whether to continue with the scheduled shoot or to reschedule. If the realtor is not present and we arrive to find things in a condition that would prevent us from providing acceptable photographs, we will contact the realtor to make the decision on whether to continue with the shoot. Please understand that there will be a $40 cancellation fee if the realtor decides to cancel and reschedule the session.

How long will the photographer be at the property?

We allow an hour for a typical home under 4000 Sq Ft. We allow 1-1/2 hours for a larger home.

Does the agent or seller need to be at the property during the shoot?

Not particularly. If the seller would like to be present, we would enjoy the company. If the seller or agent is unable to be there we will enter the property with the agreed upon method. All of our photographers are trained to remove shoes, move distracting items, and turn off lights and lock doors once finished. We will leave the property just as we found it.

How will I get my pictures?

You will be contacted by email by 5 PM the following business day. (Please note that Friday sessions will be available Monday by 5 PM.) The pictures will be downloaded from the Menu Item Product Downloads. The product name will be "Property Address" with four sample pictures shown in the product description. Just add this product to Your Cart, Checkout, and the pictures will be available immediately for download. You will also receive an email with download instructions if you wish to download them later. The pictures will be available for download for 7 days. If you need to download them after 7 days, please contact Theresa at (816)-282-4218.

Do the final pictures have a copyright attached to them?

Yes, Water Street Real Estate Photography owns the copyright on all of their real estate and architectural pictures.

Under the Federal Copyright Act of 1976, photographs are protected by copyright from the moment of creation. Unless you have permission from the photographer, you can't copy, distribute, or publicly display the photographs.

When you purchase the photographs from Water Street we are giving you permission to use these pictures for all marketing associated with the current sale of the specified property. Any usage of the pictures by a third party is prohibited. It is also prohibited to use these pictures for your company marketing (such as agent advertising flyers, websites, client gifts, etc.) If you want these pictures for this type of use, please contact our office. We will be happy to work with you on providing you the pictures you need.

What if it's a cloudy day?

No worries. It can always be a Sunny Day! We edit all exterior pictures from a dreary sky to a blue sky as part of our high quality promise. Here is an example:

What happens if it's raining or snowing?

Please keep in mind that our photography equipment is expensive and not conducive to water! We can handle a drizzly day with an umbrella but when Mother Nature decides to drench the neighborhood we will not be able to take any exterior pictures. The exterior pictures can be rescheduled for another day when the weather cooperates. If we are in the middle of a snow or ice storm and road conditions prohibit us from getting to the property safely, we will cancel the session and reschedule it as soon as possible. Cancellation fees are not charged due to weather cancellations by Water Street.

Does Water Street Real Estate Photography charge travel fees in Kansas City?

Due to the large coverage area in Kansas City there is a $30 travel fee for a scheduled session outside of the Metro Area. Please see the map to determine if your property is within this defined area. The inner circle defines the Kansas City Metro Area. The outer circle defines the area where a travel fee would be charged.

Does Water Street Real Estate Photography charge travel fees at The Lake of the Ozarks?

There are no travel fees charged for photography shoots at the Lake of the Ozarks.
